Safety

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Celestiq are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Cadillac Celestiq has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the Celestiq and the Polestar 2 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Cadillac Celestiq weighs 1286 to 1496 pounds more than the Polestar 2. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Celestiq 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Polestar covers the 2. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Polestar 2 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 18 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Polestar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Celestiq’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are better in initial quality than Polestar vehicles. With 102 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Cadillac higher than Polestar.

Engine

The Celestiq’s electric motors produces 124 more horsepower (600 vs. 476) and 94 lbs.-ft. more torque (640 vs. 546) than the Polestar 2’s electric motors.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Celestiq can travel longer on a full charge than the Polestar 2 Performance Pack (300 miles vs. 254 miles).

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Celestiq has larger tires than the Polestar 2 (285/35R23 vs. 245/40R20).

The Celestiq’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Polestar 2’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Celestiq has standard 22-inch wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the Polestar 2. The Celestiq offers optional 23-inch wheels.

The Celestiq has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the Celestiq can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

Suspension and Handling

The Celestiq has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Celestiq uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Polestar 2, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Celestiq offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Polestar doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Polestar 2.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Celestiq’s wheelbase is 22.6 inches longer than on the Polestar 2 (130.2 inches vs. 107.6 inches).

Chassis

The Celestiq uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Celestiq has 1.1 inches more front headroom, 3.6 inches more front legroom, 4.3 inches more front hip room, 5 inches more front shoulder room, 1.7 inches more rear headroom, 4.8 inches more rear legroom, 3 inches more rear hip room and 6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Polestar 2.

Cargo Capacity

The Celestiq has a much larger trunk than the Polestar 2 with its rear seat up (31.6 vs. 14.4 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

The Celestiq’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Celestiq’s power side swing out doors make it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the car. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer a power rear door.

Standard air conditioned seats in the front and rear seats keep the Celestiq’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Celestiq has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Polestar 2.

The Celestiq’s standard oscillating air vents move back and forth and distribute air evenly inside the vehicle, making everyone more comfortable. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer oscillating vents.

Both the Cadillac Celestiq and the Polestar 2 have a standard Qi wireless phone charging system in the front seat. To easily keep personal devices charged in the rear seat, without cables tangling and wearing out, the Celestiq also has a standard wireless charging system in the rear seat. The Polestar 2 does not.

The Celestiq’s automated parking system can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Auto Parking will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Polestar 2 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
